They are made of plastic. We needed to replace them after only about 6 years.

Miele Knob
I have these knobs on a CS1011G gas cooktop and silver plastic is peeling of bottom. The knobs have gone dull and discoloured. Shame they don't use steel knobs.

KNOBS SHOOULD BE MADE OUT OF DIFFRENT MINITERAL OR
THE DESIGN OF THIS COOK TOP IS POOR AS THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THESE KNOBS DUE TO HEAT FROM THE BURNERS
